Experienced and enthusiastic member of staff required to teach the afternoon Theatre class over the summer 2023 held at the University of Stirling. The position is well suited to a current teacher of the same or a similar subject or a theatre or acting professional who has experience working with teenagers.
Students will take part in exercises that explore the techniques of acting, as well as learning to develop skills related to voice projection and the importance of movement in storytelling. The students will also be introduced to the creative process in writing and producing a piece of work. You will be required to run improvisation workshops and will produce a theatre production for an end of school recital. Applicants should be able to demonstrate their experience in the above and display a passion for working with young people.
This class challenges students to think creatively and to express their ideas through a variety of mediums. Enthusiasm and flexibility are essential to the role. They are keen to work with people who are passionate about their field and can present lessons through a variety of fun and diverse classes. The successful candidate may be asked on occasion to assist with non-classroom activities which may include working with other staff or meeting parents. As such, a professional team-player mindset is essential. As part of their remit, all teachers will write a final report about each their students.
Working hours will be Monday – Friday, 1pm – 4pm, (15 hours per week for six weeks) with an hourly rate between £18 – £25 an hour depending on experience. All staff must participate in a mandatory training session which will be scheduled prior to the start of summer school.
