Two exciting opportunities has arisen to support two artists to take up a two week research and development plus shared content creation at Galoshans 2022 as part of Inverclyde Culture Collective.
Galoshans 2022 will present 10 days (21 – 30 October 2022) of creative presentation and engagement, culminating in a weekend-long programme of outdoor celebratory events taking place over the 28 – 30 October 2022. Galoshans festival is a celebration of creativity, culture and performance centred on Galoshans – a traditional piece of folk theatre originating in Inverclyde and performed on feast days throughout Scotland in the medieval times, particularly around Halloween.
Galoshans Festival has grown to become a highlight of the year for culture and community in Inverclyde. Deeply rooted in artistic activity and community participation, the festival uses the unique tradition as a launchpad to explore, promote and champion creative arts locally. Galoshans celebrates Inverclyde’s unique culture while cultivating high quality artistic programming and a strong level of creative community participation. Inverclyde Culture Collective are looking for two artists to take up a two week research and development plus shared content creation at Galoshans Festival 2022 as part of Creative Scotland’s Culture Collective.
TIMEFRAME
Each Artist will have a two week research and development period. The dates for this residency will be negotiated by the Artist(s), our Culture Collective Steering Group and RIG Arts to make available the appropriate residency space for the artist.
Galoshans Festival will take place 10 days (21 – 30 October 2022). The two week research and development period should take place within the months of September / October 2022. The Artist(s) must present and share their research and development at Galoshans Festival 2021 (21st – 30th October 2022)
The artist will design and lead on their own workplans as agreed with the Culture Collective Steering Group. Delivery of the contracted days may vary in intensity over the post.

£1400 Fee (x two opportunities)
Calculated at £700 per week per artist x two weeks
Materials Budget £500 per artist
There is a separate access budget for all Inverclyde
