Lyra: Freelance Youth Arts Workers

Lyra are looking for new recruits to join their team of freelance Youth Arts Workers.

Job Title: Youth Arts Worker
Reports to: Engagement Producer, Anna Plasberg-Hill
Days/Hours: Thursdays 2.15pm – 6pm and/or Saturdays 10am – 3pm
PLUS ad hoc cover across Lyra’s Young Artist programme (Tue – Sat)
Rate: £13.50 per hour.
Location: Lyra, Artspace, 11 Harewood Road, Edinburgh, EH16 4NT
Contract: Freelance

They are looking for applicants who can commit to weekly sessions from November 2022 – June 2023, as well as applicants who are interested in ad-hoc cover. Sessions take place in line with Edinburgh school term dates.

The Role:
The role of Youth Arts Worker is to provide high quality pastoral, practical and creative support to the children and young people (aged 5 – 18) taking part in Lyra’s vibrant performing arts programme (Young Artists), supporting Lyra’s Facilitators and Lead Artists in the delivery of a wide range of participatory projects.

This is an active role, ideal for an enthusiastic and motivated person who is able to take initiative, and act as a positive role model for children and young people.

The successful candidates will be experienced in working with children and young people and have a passion for the performing arts. They will be able to facilitate creative approaches to managing challenging behaviour and support the varying needs of Lyra’s participants.

Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an informal in-person workshop audition Wed 2 November 2022, 10am – 1.30pm.

Training Session
Candidates who are successful at the workshop stage will be invited to attend a paid in-person training session on Thu 3 November 2022, 10am – 2pm. The training will be paid at Youth Arts Worker rates. (Applicants must be available for the dates and times listed above.)
