Call-out to Artists and Performance Companies: present your show at Lyra, Scotland’s first theatre for children and teenagers, in September 2026 – March 2027
About Lyra’s Culture Crew
They are a group of young people in S1+ who come together at Lyra to build skills in creative industries and work with Lyra’s core team to programme and host professional performances in Lyra’s theatre.
Each year, they have a budget to programme a season at Lyra’s venue, Artspace – Scotland’s first and only theatre dedicated to children and teenagers. The Season brings professional shows for young audiences and their families living in the Greater Craigmillar community in Edinburgh.
They’re currently putting together their season for September 2026 – March 2027 so if you’ve got a tour-ready show, they’d love to hear from you. Here’s their tech spec: https://www.lyra.co.uk/venue-hire
They want the shows they programme to be moving, exciting, funny, inclusive, interactive and reflective of their community.
And we’d like the season to include:
• A variety of different genres and styles
• Shows for different age groups (ages 0-18)
• Shows that surprise and challenge
This is what to include in your pitch to the Crew:
• A brief summary of your production / what you’re proposing to the Crew.
• A full recording of the work
• A trailer and production images (if available)
• Details of where the work can be seen on tour (if applicable)
• Your target age range for audiences
• Your technical requirements
• Your availability from September 2026 – March 2027
• An indication of costs. All performances at Artspace are presented free of charge for audiences and so we can offer an all-inclusive fee of up to £1100 for your visit. Wherever possible, they will try to present at least one performance for our local partner schools as well as at least one public performance.
• They may be able to provide some technical support in addition to the fee.
(You can present this information in the format you feel most comfortable using, e.g Videos/Voice note/Written document).
Deadline: Please send your pitch to james@lyra.co.uk by Mon 20 April 2026.
Pitches will be confirmed for practicality with Lyra’s Executive Producer & Co-CEO before being passed on to Lyra’s Artistic Director & Co-CEO for shortlisting. The Culture Crew will consider the shortlisted proposals at their programming meeting on 30 April 2026.
