Lyra are looking for new recruits to join their team of freelance Youth Arts Workers. They are looking for applicants who can commit to weekly sessions from October 2023 – June 2024.
About the Role
The role of Youth Arts Worker is to provide high quality pastoral, practical and creative support to the children and teenagers (aged 5 – 18) taking part in Lyra’s vibrant performing arts programme (Young Artists), supporting Lyra’s Facilitators and Lead Artists in the delivery of a wide range of participatory projects.
This is an active role, ideal for an enthusiastic and motivated person who is able to take initiative, and act as a positive role model for children and teenagers. The successful candidates will be experienced in working with children and teenagers and have a passion for the performing arts. They will be able to facilitate creative approaches to managing challenging behaviour and support the varying needs of Lyra’s participants.
The weekly Young Artists sessions take place in line with the school term dates. We have regular vacancies for the following shifts:
– Wednesdays, 2.15pm – 6pm
– Thursdays, 2.15pm – 6pm
– Thursdays, 4pm – 6.30pm
– Saturdays, 10am – 3pm
(Applicants should be available for at least one of these shifts on a regular basis.)
The rate of pay is £13.90 per hour. (They can cover travel costs of up to a maximum of £10 per shift for those living outside of the City of Edinburgh).
