This free, online course is for young people with an interest in playwriting. 

During the course, participants will develop the practical tools and skills to focus their ideas and turn them into theatre. Over five sessions from October 2025 – March 2026, they’ll take part in discussions, creative tasks, and peer-group working, finding out how to generate ideas and create structure, character and dialogue.

Professional playwrights will lead and support participants to gain a deeper understanding of the playwriting process, and participants will receive feedback on an early draft of their work.

At the end of the course, participants have the opportunity to submit a short play to the New Views Festival.

Please note: Participants must be able to attend the full course to take part.

Course Requirements

• The New Views: Digital Writer’s Room is online and free to join, making it perfect for young people all over the country. 
• The course is aimed at people who have already begun their writing journey, and are looking to hone their craft.
• The age requirement is 14-19. 
• There is an option to answer the application questions by uploading a voice or video recording.
