Roughly Staged is returning to Cottiers, Glasgow in March 2025. They are on the look out for original 15 minute plays to perform. Here’s what they’re looking for:

– No more than five actors required to perform
– Last between 10-15 minutes when performed (please double-check this as over-long scripts will be rejected)
– Should be suitable to perform in a traverse format (audience on both sides)
– Should not have previously been performed in public
– Basic tech and design elements (but if you have props, costumes or stuff you can bring them – let them know)
– Please do not include your name or any identifiable information about you on the script as they want to read them anonymously

What happens after I submit?
After the submission deadline, their panel of readers (including playwrights and directors) read through the submitted scripts anonymously and make individual shortlists of scripts they think should be performed. The panel then meet to discuss their final decision and writers are informed if they were successful or unsuccessful.

The successful writers will be paired with directors who will help cast and rehearse their plays. Rehearsals will take place w/b 17 March 2025, writers are invited to attend. The plays will be performed in front of an audience on 25 March 2025.

Roughly Staged is a voluntary opportunity to support new writing and performance, and are a not-for-profit group. They are committed to making this process as fair and unbiased as possible. For this event, they will give priority to writers with a personal connection to the Partick and Thornwood areas of Glasgow, as they are supported by the Partick and Thornwood Ideas Fund, but they encourage anyone who can make it along on the night to submit.
