Scottish Youth Theatre are seeking three young, early-career artists to embark on a traineeship to develop their skills in project planning, delivery and workshop facilitation from now until June.
They’re seeking three young, early career artists aged 18-25 to support the delivery of Amplify. Partnering with youth theatres outside the main urban centres, Amplify will collaborate with young people aged 14-17, exploring how theatre-making and performance can be a vehicle for political and social change, empowering them to think radically, respond creatively and act collectively.
Continuing Scottish Youth Theatre’s working model of offering trainee opportunities to early-career young artists, Amplify will offer three short traineeships, each paired with one of the Lead Artists, to learn more about project planning, delivery and workshop facilitation. The Trainee Artists will play a key role in supporting the Lead Artists and young artists participating, challenging the status quo of theatre-making and encouraging the participants to think about how art can lead to political and social change.
Trainees will work alongside the Scottish Youth Theatre Production Team, the youth theatre project partners and wider team to hone their leadership skills in an artistic context. They will collaborate with Scottish Youth Theatre and their allocated lead artist to identify strengths, learning needs and areas for growth, contributing to the planning and delivery of the project.
With the potential to be supporting the Lead Artists, the Production Team and the young artist participants, Trainee Artists will need to be good listeners and relish the challenge of balancing different priorities.
This is a traineeship with an attached bursary of £780 per trainee. As a trainee, you must commit to a minimum of 6.5 days on the project, which includes training, collaboration, three full days of delivery and debriefing at the end of the project.
To apply, you must be available on the following delivery dates:
> Sat 10 June 2023
> Sun 11 June 2023
> Sat 17 June 2023
Deadline for applications: 4 April 2023
