Outlander has become a worldwide success with audiences, spanning the genres of history, science fiction, romance, and adventure in one amazing tale.
The Outlander Training Programme has now run across seven successive series and has trained a total of 170 people between 2014 – 2023 through intensive ‘on the job’ training, working alongside some of the most experienced technicians in the industry.
The Outlander Training Programme is supported Screen Scotland and ScreenSkills High-end TV Skills fund.
They are now recruiting up to 20 trainees, across various departments to train on Outlander Season 8. As a trainee on Outlander, you will be learning from some of the finest technicians and creatives working in the film and television industry. The experience of training within in a real filming environment will create a strong platform for our trainees to embark on successful careers within this industry.
The Outlander Training Programme supports diversity and encourages applications from across all sections of the community. No formal qualifications are required. However, in order to be eligible to be considered for a traineeship, applicants must:
– Be normally resident in Scotland (the production base is Cumbernauld)
– Be eligible to work in the UK
– Be over 18 years old
– Have a basic understanding of the film and television industry, preferably with relevant work experience
– Have no more than six months paid experience within the department they are applying to
– Preferably have a full clean driving licence (this is essential for some roles; please review the criteria for each role carefully)

Induction Day: Fri 8 March 2024
Trainees start: Mon 11 March 2024 (NB: Accounts Trainee role starts in February; see application information for details)
Trainees will be paid salaries between £558.80 – £635.00 per week (inclusive of holiday pay) depending on the role.
The traineeship is for a fixed term and does not guarantee employment beyond the placement. The focus of the training programme is to prepare trainees to enter a freelance environment.
