Submissions of short extracts from new playscripts are invited for Stage to Page, a bi-monthly opportunity for writers, actors and directors to work on new pieces in a supportive workshop event.
Stage to Page is a voluntary collective of writers, directors and actors who meet bi-monthly to conduct short public workshops and script-in-hand readings of scenes from three brand new plays. This is a great opportunity for writers to be actively involved in the workshop process, see their work on its feet for the first time and get invaluable feedback from directors, actors and audiences. Many pieces which started life at Stage to Page have gone on to full performances, and audiences have the chance to see and hear them being worked on for the first time.
Stage to Page is led by a different industry guest each time, drawn from Scotland’s prominent writers, directors, stage, film and TV practitioners and is supported by Playwrights’ Studio, Scotland and Acting Coach Scotland. The event usually takes place in Glasgow, but this month they’re on tour: the event will take place in Stevenston, at the Ardeer Community Centre, and will be led by Jaine Lumsden, Physical Theatre Specialist at Creative Scotland, who will select three extracts for workshop on the night.
Writers are invited to submit short (10min max) extracts from works in progress by the deadline (see below). Full submission guidelines are available on www.facebook.com/StageToPage, but briefly, extracts should be:
• Max 10 mins long (7-8 pages, 12 point font, double spaced)
• Anonymised: please don’t put your name anywhere on the script itself.
• Emailed to stagetopage@gmail.com by the deadline: 5pm, Mon 6 March 2023.
