Standing Tall Scotland are looking for a Cultural Participation Facilitator to deliver a programme of activities with young people who have arrived in Scotland separated from a parent or guardian and are seeking asylum.
They work in collaboration with Guardianship Scotland, a specialist statutory service supporting unaccompanied young people through the asylum process.
Their programme of work currently includes:
– twice monthly creative Group Nights in Glasgow led by professional artists;
– special projects where young people collaborate with a professional artist to explore a particular art form in more detail;
– trips to performances, exhibitions and events;
– celebrations marking significant cultural events throughout the year;
– an annual residential.
They are expanding our participation programme between now and March 2027, in response to the interests and ambitions of the young people we work with. It will include facilitating young people to see live performances and concerts, visit cultural venues and exhibitions, experience Scottish landscapes, and participate in cultural festivals and events. There will also be a Cultural Weekend Away for up to 25 young people.
The Cultural Participation Facilitator will be responsible for this expanded programme, working with young people to collaboratively plan, co-ordinate and deliver activities, ensuring their views, feelings and wishes influence decision making.
This role is being offered as a freelance, self-employed contract. Standing Tall will pay a fee of £175 per day for a maximum of 70 days between now and March 2027. This role will include evening and weekend work, and work during school holidays.
The Cultural Participation Facilitator can work remotely, but will be required to regularly attend Group Night activities in Glasgow city centre on a Wednesday evening and accompany trips.
Candidates will need to be able to demonstrate their ability to work in a way that promotes the safety and wellbeing of children and young people. They have a responsibility to keep young people safe and do everything in their power to ensure they are protected in all of the activities.
