Starcatchers Productions Ltd: Board Members

Closing date: Sun 30 Nov 2025: 5:00PM

Starcatchers is seeking new trustees to join their board. If you have leadership skills, can think strategically & have a passion for the role creativity plays within child development, get in touch.

As a trustee, you will be responsible for providing overall governance to Starcatchers with the Chair and the rest of the Board, ensuring the yare working to their vision and mission, and upholding their values.

Trustees are expected to attend Board meetings, which are held four times a year, currently on Tuesday evenings, usually in February, May, September and November. These are held online, with one in person meeting in Edinburgh (usually November). There is also an annual Board development day that Trustees are expected to attend. Travel, accommodation and childcare expenses are available for all meetings for those who live outwith Edinburgh, as well as support with access requirements and reasonable adjustments.

Our current Board includes volunteers from the arts, children’s wellbeing, children’s rights and finance backgrounds. As they develop and implement their strategic priorities, they are looking to extend and deepen the skills and expertise on the board. They are seeking volunteers who can act as a critical friend to Starcatchers’ executive staff, as well as fulfil the governance role required of a board member.

They have the opportunity to appoint up to four new Trustees to work with the existing board and staff to help them achieve their goals. Although some previous Board experience would be beneficial, they are looking for prospective Trustees, who can demonstrate an interest and commitment to Starcatchers’ purpose and values.

Starcatchers believes that diversity supports excellence, and they are actively recruiting those who identify as being historically excluded from governance roles across all forms of inequality and intersectionality of discriminations. It is their aim to mirror the diversity of Scotland’s children in their governance, management, and artistic teams. They are particularly interested in recruiting board members who are connected to the communities where they work – in Wester Hailes, in Cowdenbeath and Dunfermline in Fife. They are also keen to meet people who have strong finance, fundraising or HR/legal skills.

If you have previously thought that you don’t fit the traditional profile of a board member, but you are inspired to contribute to their work, then they want to hear from you.
