The Hugo Burge Foundation is a major new arts funding body. In 2025 – its first full year – they distributed £400,000 of grant funding to individuals, communities and organisations across the United Kingdom.
Their grant funding is focused on three key areas: Creative Education, Creative Communities, and Creative Individuals. The grants are open to apply for via Submittable and will close on 31 July 2026.
Creative Education Fund
In 2026, the Creative Education fund will contain £100,000 for applications from that support opportunities for young people (0-29) to build creative knowledge and skills. Applicants can include schools, local authorities, community groups, charities, museum/gallery spaces, educational institutions and arts organisations, and more. The maximum award for applications in this area is £15,000.
For requests of £10,000 and under, the Foundation can fund the whole project. For applicants asking for more than £10,000, they ask that a minimum of 30% of the project budget is covered via alternate funding sources. They offer a limited number of multi-year grants which will provide funding for a maximum of three years.
Creative Communites Fund
In 2026, the Creative Communities fund will have £150,000 available to support a wide range of organisations, including festivals, charities, arts organisations, and community groups, to develop and deliver cultural or creative initiatives in their local areas.
The maximum award is £15,000. For requests of £10,000 and under, the Hugo Burge Foundation can fund the whole project. For applicants asking for more than £10,000, they ask that a minimum of 30% of the project budget is covered via alternate funding sources. They offer a limited number of multi-year grants which will provide funding for a maximum of three years.
Creative Individuals Fund
The Creative Individuals Fund will have £50,000 available in 2026 and is open to individuals seeking support for the development of artistic projects or practice. They welcome applications from practitioners in all creative disciplines and individuals across the UK are welcome to apply. The maximum award for individual artists is £5,000. This can fund the entire project.
Application Process
When the application window is open, they will accept applications via Submittable. Their hope is make this application process accessible, equitable, and easy for applicants.
They also have an access support fund with £7,000 which will be available on a first-come first serve basis. This fund will go toward paying access support workers up to £300 for a days worth of services for applicants that might face barriers applying without assistance, including being Deaf, disabled, or neurodivergent. They will not ask for proof from applicants.
