Drama Toonies Barmulloch is a drama workshop programme offering children aged 5-11 an introduction to theatre and performance through fun and inclusive games and activities. A variety of stimulus such as props, scripts, music and drama activities are used within the programme to strengthen performance skills and develop strong communication skills., as well as encouraging confidence, imagination and play.
The Support Artist will work alongside the Lead Artist to ensure that all participants are safe, nurtured, supported and able to fully engage with creative activity. This involves working closely with vulnerable young people who may have additional needs or present challenging behaviours. They may lead warm up games and activities, work with small groups to develop creative ideas or provide focused support with individuals who are struggling to engage with the activity.
Toonspeak are also looking to expand their bank of cover artists so applicants who are unsuccessful in their interviews for this specific role may be offered further opportunities within their freelance team.
- Reports to: Youth Theatre Coordinator
- Start date: Thursday 23 January
- Session times: Thursdays 3.30-6pm, Barmulloch Community Development Centre, 54 Quarrywood Road, G31 3ET
- Contract duration: Toonspeak contract freelance artists for term blocks of 10 weeks. This contract may be renewed for further terms, dependent on programme and funding.
Please note you may be required to attend additional meetings, events, performances etc., for which you will be paid an additional fee.
This role involves regulated work with children and as such, the successful applicant will be required to register with the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) scheme (this will be processed by Toonspeak).
