Tron Theatre is pleased to re-launch its Resident Writer opportunity, offering an emerging Scotland-based playwright a commission to write and develop a new piece of theatre.

As well as the commission the Resident Writer will receive a package of support, including dramaturgical sessions and a public rehearsed reading of their new play.

Applicants are invited to submit a previously written play as an example of their writing and an idea for a play they would like to write if chosen as the Resident Writer.

The Resident Writer will receive a commission fee of £5,587 for a new play of up to 60 minutes, as well as a package of support including:

• Six sessions with a dramaturg
• Two development workshop weeks supported by a director and performers
• A public reading at the Tron in May 2023
• A set of headshots taken by a professional photographer
• Advice and support from the Tron’s team.

The successful applicant will be someone who shows real promise as a stylish and distinctive playwright and who pitches an idea they are excited about and intrigued by.

An application pack with full details of eligibility criteria and information on how to apply is available to download from the Tron Theatre website (https://www.tron.co.uk/resident-writer/).
