Vivid Roots Collective are looking for three scratch performances for their second annual ROOTS Festival in Inverness. This year they have a four day programme of digital and in-person events to celebrate and support local theatre-makers.
They are hosting six online workshops, three online panels and a day of in-person performances, creating opportunities for emerging and Highland theatre-makers.

They are looking for three artists to deliver scratch performances for this year’s ROOTS Festival. Your scratch idea can be at any stage of development but should not have been performed professionally.
Successful applicants will have a 20 minute slot to introduce and present their work to a festival audience on 19 October 2024.
They will have access to the space (Creative Academy, Inverness) in the morning to tech their performance. They will also be able to use rehearsal space at Eden Court on the 17 – 18 October which is being provided in-kind by the venue.
The scratch will be marketed to so that the audience are ready to feedback and provide a supportive atmosphere. They will liaise with you before the event to determine the best format for feedback to be collected. You and your performance will be advertised on their webpage as part of the festival.
Please note that the performance will be performed end-on on a raised stage with limited tech.
For all roles, artists must:
– Be over the age of 16
– Be permanently based or currently studying in the Scottish Highlands
– Be fully available on 19 October 2024
– Have an interest in pursuing a career in Scottish theatre
Budget
– £250 for the successful artist to use as they fee fit (pay themselves, pay others, extra rehearsal space, props, etc.)
– Access and travel will be covered additionally.
