Join the ‘Next Generation’ and launch your career as an arts practitioner!
Are you aged 16-24 and passionate about working in the arts? Ready to take a giant leap towards a creative career? Well, Youth Theatre Arts Scotland’s Next Generation Programme could be your chance to gain real-world skills, meet a crew of inspiring peers, and boost the ignition on your arts career.
This free support, development, and training programme is tailor-made for young people who have a connection to the youth theatre sphere. Whether your mission is being a youth theatre leader, artist, or future arts manager, this programme will give you the tools you need to thrive, realising your career potential and breathing fresh new life into the world of youth theatre.
Programme participants will take part in online and in-person training on a part-time basis between November 2024 and June 2025 to achieve an accredited SCQF Level 3 qualification. Participants can then choose to continue on their journey for a second year (until June 2026) to gain an SCQF Level 6 qualification if they wish.

How to apply
To apply to take part in the Next Generation programme, first please read the info pack below, and note down the dates of the workshops to make sure you can commit to the time needed for the programme. Then we’ll ask you to tell us about your interest in youth theatre and your experience so far, either in writing or via a video or audio clip. The full instructions are in the info pack.
Your application will help us make sure that the Next Generation programme is a good fit for you, so make sure you read the questions carefully and answer them as best you can. Your application will also help us start to identify pathways and collaborative partners that could be of particular interest to you.
