This love letter to our city will feature members of Perth Youth Theatre alongside a professional adult cast, in a community production exploring the challenges, common ground, and chances for change we and our Fair City face.
Perth is our place. Our corner of the world. The backdrop of our lives…
January 1993. It rained so much it felt like Perth would be swept away. Families had to flee their homes with no time to pack and no idea what they would come back to. Things that were once thought safe and locked away were now threatened. Do we have time to take the pets? What do we do about our vinyl LP collection? And… will the family secrets float to the surface?
One group of young friends escape the city and seek the safety of Kinnoull Hill. While the waters run wild, the group debates what the next best step is for their current predicament, and unwittingly, for the future of the city that they discover they all love.
Castaways of Kinnoull Hill is a story about being young and feeling stuck. And being old and reflecting on the ability to make a difference. About our hopes for the future. And Perth’s place in our hearts.
