The Flying Volansos are known globally as one of the most famous trapeze acts around. Counting an amazing ensemble of circus performers as her family, young Robin Volanso is destined to follow in her parents’ footsteps. But when Robin’s world is turned upside down, she goes on a journey that will take her to death and beyond.

Featuring music specially composed by Beats & Rhymes, their group of young music producers.

This performance is the culmination of a nine month creative process. Ross MacKay was commissioned to create a new play for Aberdeen Performing Arts Youth Theatre, The Circus Of Life And Death being the result of a number of research and development sessions with the youth theatre participants. This project has been centred around young people having an active role in the creation of a brand new play.
Ross MacKay:
Ross is an award-winning writer. His adaptation of Treasure Island garnered five star reviews during its run at Cumbernauld Theatre. He is currently under commission with Toonspeak, Light The Blue Festival and Play Pie and a Pint. He is currently artist on attachment with the National Theatre of Scotland. Ross was previously artistic director of Tortoise in a Nutshell. His productions toured all over the world and received numerous prestigious awards including a Scotsman Fringe First and a Critic’s Pick from The New York Times. Outside of theatre, Ross has two tv shows under option and has two published books with another two due to be released in 2024/25.
