Free Two Day Devising Project

Venue: His Majesty’s Theatre, Rosemount Viaduct, Aberdeen, AB25 1GL
Prices: Free

What can a classic tale tell us about the world today?

Taking classic stories as a springboard to create your own narratives, get ready to rip off and rewrite over a two day intensive devising project. Led by artist and director Sally Charlton, Rip It Off offers young theatre-makers based in Aberdeen and the North East an environment to explore contemporary themes through innovative adaptation and devising techniques. Using text, live performance and tech, join Scottish Youth Theatre and be part of a cohort of 20 young artists to create, collaborate and perform an original short performance inspired by a classic tale in just two days.

Whether you’re an actor, performer, playwright or storyteller (circle as many as apply), Rip It Off is about getting over the fear of the blank page and bringing your own, original perspectives to tales already told (again and again and again)…

Rip It Off will take place from 10am – 6pm on Fri 2 – Sat 3 August 2024 at His Majesty’s Theatre and The Lemon Tree in Aberdeen. To register, you must be a young artist aged 17-25(ish) and based in Aberdeen and/or the North East.
