This module is designed to provide you with an opportunity to collaborate and experiment through interdisciplinary or transdisciplinary performance labs.
Ecoscenography investigates an ecological and holistic approach to the study and practice of performance design. Traditional scenography concerns stagecraft practice of environments and atmosphere involved in a performance. This includes (but not limited to): scenic elements, lighting, sound, costume, SFX.
Experiment: Ecoscenographic Practices invites students to engage, research, and encourage interdisciplinary work between RCS programmes to investigate ecoscenographic methodologies. The course aims to include students from various disciplines to bring their expertise to this collaborative experiment.
You will be provided with preparatory and introductory resources at the start of the term to provide you with a critical and contextual underpinning for the chosen topic. Preparatory and introductory material may take the form of readings, digital resources, tasks, reflections, or asynchronous discussions. Contextual underpinnings explored through independent study will be tested in practice through a week-long experimental and collaborative performance labs.
