M*****classes is a free training programme that aims to address the lack of gender diversity in design/production roles. These series of workshops focuses on Lighting Design, curated by Emma Jones.

Each set of M*****classes is focused on a specific area and consists of workshops, talks with professionals and hands-on experience. This is a free programme for those who have some experience or an interest in a field – but require refreshment or up-skilling before presenting themselves as viable candidates for these positions.

M*****classes is for women, non-binary people and people from other marginalised genders. Self-definition is at the sole discretion of those individuals.

The programme will take place over three Saturday’s in June 2025, curated by Emma Jones, one of Scotland’s leading Lighting Designers. The workshops will be facilitated by Lighting Designers who will share their own stories and experience. There will also be time to ask questions and engage in discussions with the presenters, to seek advice and learn from their journeys and experiences in the industry. 

Participants developed an understanding of professional processes and potential career paths while building practical skills and increasing confidence.
