This year and throughout 2022 till March 2023 National Theatre of Scotland will support 12 Artists Residencies. These are to develop an idea and project, with support of a dedicated budget, studio space and equipment, access to technical advice and expertise.
DISCOVER RESIDENCIES
Eight artists will be awarded £5,000 and each have up to two weeks studio time (within a two month period) with a focus on research and development, discovering and diving into an idea and new project.
It should have a focus on discovering, doing research and initial development of an idea or new project. Apply to this is if you are looking for a residency which helps you to explore your artistry, ideas and process of making work. This could be for doing some research into a new work, developing those initial ideas on your own/ with collaborators, this could be about using the time to develop your practice.

DEVELOP RESIDENCIES
Four artists will be awarded £20,000 and each have up to six weeks studio time (days within a six month period) with a focus on developing an idea into a first draft stage.
It should have a focus on development of an idea and project. This is for an individual artist, a collective of artists, or a company to have dedicated space and budget to develop an idea or project to a first draft stage. Apply to this if you are looking to develop your idea for a new work with dedicated resource, research and development time. This could be for developing your project to a point where you could share it with programmers, promoters, or producers. This could also be about testing out ideas and processes which need to be explored before the work is ready for rehearsals and production stage.
