Creative Lives has 20 x £300 microgrants to give to community-based creative groups in Scotland, to help encourage newcomers to join them.
‘Come on in’ Microgrants
Thanks to funding from the Scottish Government, via the Scottish Community Alliance, Creative Lives is distributing 20 microgrants of £300 each to encourage community-based creative groups to welcome newcomers.
They know that many people would benefit from taking part in a creative activity, but there may be barriers in their way preventing them from doing so. Possible barriers to participation could include:
– Lack of information about what’s happening locally;
– Lack of confidence about trying something new;
– Not wanting to go along to a group alone;
– Travel issues;
– Access issues.
They are inviting groups to apply for funding to address barriers such as these and to encourage newcomers to join in with their activities.
In particular, they are looking for groups to welcome people who may be experiencing loneliness or for whom taking part in a creative activity would make a tangible difference to their lives.
