Summerhall Arts are thrilled to welcome artists into Summerhall’s creative spaces to experiment, develop new ideas, and take time to focus on their work. Their paid space offers a dedicated, supported week for artists or collectives in need of space, time, and a small financial boost to help things along.

What’s included:
– Up to five days in either Tech Cube Zero or Anatomy Lecture Theatre
Venue specifications available on request

They offer two tiers of support:
– £500 weeks – for individual artists undertaking solo work.
– £1000 weeks – for projects where the lead artist is working with one or more collaborators and needs support to fairly pay others or to bring specialist skills into the room.

This opportunity is best suited to artists or groups in the early to mid-development stages of a project who would benefit from focused time and space, without the pressure of public outcomes or sharing.

A few things to know:
– No tech support is provided (although can be hired on request, depending on availability).
– Artists must be fully self-sufficient and bring any equipment, materials, cables, etc.
– No printing or additional resources are available on-site.
– You’ll sign an agreement confirming care of the space and respect for their code of conduct.

This is an opportunity to focus in, take space, and prioritise your practice — they’ll give you the keys and leave you to it.

Key Details:
– This opportunity is only for Scotland-based artists.
– Applications assessed on eligibility and need, rather than the concept itself. They’re looking for artists who can demonstrate that this time and support will meaningfully benefit their work right now.
– Tiers: £1000 weeks are prioritised for applications that clearly involve paid collaboration. Solo artists should apply for the £500 tier.
– Deadline: Sun 1 March 2026, 11pm
– Outcome Notification: Tue 10 March 2026
