Regional Hub: Inverness

Venue: Eden Court, Bishops Rd, Inverness IV3 5SA
Price: £0 – £50

We’re heading back to Inverness for our second Regional Hub, this time alongside the 2026 National Festival of Youth Theatre (NFYT). So, practitioners in and around Inverness, be sure to mark your calendars and join us at Eden Court from Saturday 4 to Sunday 5 July 2026! Practitioners from further afield keen to connect and experience the festival in action are also very welcome.

Our Regional Hubs are designed to upskill artists, share practice, support emerging artists, spark ideas for future partnerships, and create stronger working relationships within regions.  They’re open to all levels of experience and can be accessed by anyone who uses drama and creativity in their work with young people.

As of March 2026, Regional Hubs are free to YTAS members (individual and organisational). For non-members, they’re a great way to get to know YTAS, meet other artists and organisations, and start to build your own networks.

Practitioners may choose to join for one or two days of workshop and networking events. Over the course of the weekend, we’ll have a workshop exploring movement techniques for stage and script; we’ll hear from Youth Theatre Together; and we’ll explore visual storytelling and inclusive practice. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Regional Hub without a YTAS favourite… a Games Exchange! Bring your favourite warm-up game and come away with a list of new activities learned from others.

This Regional Hub has been programmed in collaboration with the team at Eden Court and is designed to complement the NFYT show programme, offering practitioners the chance to join youth theatre audiences and connect with practitioners from across the country. This year, join Fife’s Stellar Quines (Saturday) and Edinburgh’s Strange Town (Sunday) for their lunchtime shows – an excellent way to take inspiration directly from young performers and makers!

A few notes…

We’ve tried to keep costs as low as possible to enable more practitioners to attend, so we won’t be providing free catering during the event. Those who wish to join us for lunch can add on a lunch option at the point of booking if they wish.

Tickets for lunchtime performances at the National Festival of Youth Theatre are included. For those hoping to join the evening shows, tickets will be available to purchase through Eden Court’s box office nearer the time, so keep an eye on our communications channels for updates.

Who is it for?

The event is for everyone who uses drama in their work with young people. The programme leads with a focus on theatre and performance, but the activities explored can be utilised in many youth work or youth arts settings. So, whether you’re a youth theatre leader, drama teacher, youth worker, community learning professional, theatre practitioner, student, emerging young leader, or anything in between, you’re sure to come away with new knowledge and contacts from your region and beyond.

We are particularly keen to welcome practitioners who would like to develop their work within Inverness and the Highlands and/or those who are looking to widen their networks within this region.

Bursaries

Thanks to funding from Creative Scotland, the Hugh Fraser Foundation, the William Syson Foundation, Dr Guthrie’s Association, the William Grant Foundation and the JTH Charitable Trust, we are delighted to be able to offer bursary places to attend our Regional Hubs.

Bursaries are available to YTAS Individual Members who require financial support in order to attend a Regional Hub event, and will cover any fees and/or expenses associated with the training.
