Join YouthLink Scotland for an interactive discussion on youth work’s role as the ultimate rights-respecting and promoting practice.
They are delighted that among the keynote presentations included at YouthLink Scotland’s Annual Policy Convention on 8 December 2022 is The Minister for Equality and Older People, Christina McKelvie MSP, who will address delegates.
Other headline inputs include The Children’s Commissioner for Scotland, Bruce Adamson and Miriam Teuma, Chair of the Council of Europe’s Steering Committee for Youth and Chair of European Youth work Task force group and the working group of the Council of Europe Youth Strategy 2030.

– Professor Tim Corney from Australia, author of the code of ethical practice and the author of the Commonwealth Code of Ethical Practice used by 20 Youth Worker Associations across the Commonwealth.
– Ally Zlatar, University of Glasgow, who has received The Princess Diana Legacy Award (2021) and also special recognition from The British Citizen Award (2022) highlighting her humanitarian work.
– Caroline McCahill, Children’s Rights and Information Officer at Inverclyde Council and young people benefiting from IROC programme.
– Researchers from Children and Young People’s Centre for Youth Justice (CYCJ) on recent research on the crucial role of the trusted adult.
– Dave Close – Director, Hot Chocolate Trust, on how we ensure impact measurement in youth work organisations complements young people’s rights and actively supports them.
– The National Youth Agency (NYA) on the need to support the youth work workforce if we are to take rights forward meaningfully.
– The Policy Planning Group featuring representatives from across Local Authority and Voluntary youth work will update on progress made on a right to youth work in Scotland, drawing on discussion and findings from the successful policy convention on a right to youth work in 2021.
– Ocean Youth Trust and video inputs from youth workers and young people the length and breadth of Scotland.
This event has been scheduled the same week as Human Rights Day, which takes place on Sat 10 December 2022.
